Atlanta

This version of the Atlanta Campaign is designed to encompass many areas of the battle under one map. The Atlanta Campaign began on May 5, 1864 and ended after the battles of Jonesboro and Lovejoy's Station in September of 1864. The Confederate Army, under General  Johnston's command, was able to defend the city of Atlanta against a Union Army of nearly 120,000. Jefferson Davis' decision to replace the capable Johnston by the more aggressive Hood resulted in the loss of Atlanta and the subsequent "March to the Sea". The goal of the Confederate Army here is to defend as much area as possible as long as possible. It is imperative that the Union forces not be allowed to exit the map below East Point, Ga. The Union Army needs to capture as much territory as soon as practical. The ultimate goals are the capture of Atlanta, the destruction of the Confederate Army and the exit for positive VP below East Point. Confederate forces exiting the map below East Point will not be penalized as greatly as exiting the map elsewhere.
